Fans at Friday's league contest between the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) and the visiting Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC), observed Mitchell's baseball squad overcome Polk County by a final score of 8-5.

With the triumph, Mitchell moves its record to 2-5 on the season. The Mountaineers host Polk County (Columbus, NC) to confront the Wolverines in a Western Highlands 2A/3A contest on Friday, March 20. The Wolverines come into the contest with a record of 5-3. Polk County won 4-3 in their recent league contest against Owen (Black Mountain, NC)

The Wolverines now possess a 5-4 record. They play next when they travel to Mitchell for a Western Highlands 2A/3A battle on Friday, March 20. Polk County will face a Mountaineers team coming off a 10-8 league loss to Hendersonville (Hendersonville, NC). The Mountaineers record now stands at 1-5.
