Belen Eagles (Belen, NM) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Valencia Jaguars (Los Lunas, NM), 7-4 in a league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 13-10 record. They take the field next when they travel to Highland for a 4A District 5 challenge on Tuesday, April 19.

With the loss, Valencia falls to 5-13 on the campaign. The Jaguars host Valley (Albuquerque, NM) to battle the Vikings in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 16. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 10-9. Valley lost 7-6 in their recent league challenge against Albuquerque Academy (Albuquerque, NM)
