Faith Baptist Contenders (Canoga Park, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Sylmar Spartans (Sylmar, CA), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Contenders now own a 1-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Desert Christian for a Heritage challenge on Thursday, April 7. Faith Baptist will battle a Knights squad coming off a 17-1 non-league loss to Littlerock (Littlerock, CA). The Knights record now stands at 2-6.

With the loss, Sylmar falls to 2-8 on the campaign. The Spartans host Reseda (Reseda, CA) to battle the Regents in a Valley Mission challenge on Monday, April 4. The Regents enter the challenge with a record of 2-6. Reseda lost 20-4 in their recent league challenge against San Fernando (San Fernando, CA)
