Monticello Mustangs (Charlottesville, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Goochland Bulldogs (Goochland, VA), 8-1 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 7-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Orange County for a Jefferson challenge on Wednesday, May 11. Monticello will battle a Fighting Hornets squad coming off a 5-2 league win over Fluvanna County (Palmyra, VA). The Fighting Hornets record now stands at 15-0.

With the loss, Goochland falls to 5-9 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Orange County (Orange, VA) to battle the Fighting Hornets in a Jefferson challenge on Tuesday, May 17. The Fighting Hornets enter the challenge with a record of 16-0. Orange County won 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Monticello (Charlottesville, VA)
