The crowd at Friday's non-league bout between the North Polk Comets (Alleman, IA) and the visiting Dowling Catholic Maroons (West Des Moines, IA), observed North Polk's softball team get by Dowling Catholic by a final score of 5-1.

The Comets (31-3) will now prepare for their bout against Ballard (Huxley, IA). The Bombers go into the Raccoon River bout with a 9-19 record. In their last bout, Ballard was routed by Ankeny (Ankeny, IA), 7-0, in a non-league bout.

In their next game, the Maroons battle the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs (Dallas Center, IA) in a non-league bout, on Friday, June 28. Dowling Catholic will attempt to better on its 11-12 season record. The Mustangs go into the bout with a 26-7 record after their 14-1 non-league win over Newton (Newton, IA).
