The Hempstead Mustangs softball team scored 8 runs and limited the visiting Linn-Mar Lions to 5 in the Mustangs non-league triumph on Thursday.

With the triumph, Hempstead improves its record to 17-5 on the year. The Mustangs travel to Davenport North (Davenport, IA) to clash with the Wildcats in a non-league game on Saturday, July 8. The Wildcats come into the game with a record of 17-15.

In their next game, the Lions clash with the Anamosa Raiders (Anamosa, IA) in a non-league game, on Friday, June 30. Linn-Mar will attempt to improve on its 20-10 season record. The Raiders come into the game with a 11-16 record after their 4-1 non-league loss to North Linn (Troy Mills, IA).
