In Thursday's non-league challenge, the host Elkins Tigers volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Liberty Mountaineers.

The Tigers (1-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Grafton (Grafton, WV). The Bearcats come into the Potomac Valley challenge with a 3-0 record. In their last challenge, Grafton edged Varsity Opponent (, ), 3-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Mountaineers meet the Lewis County Minutemen (Weston, WV) in a Big Ten challenge, on Tuesday, September 3. Liberty will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record.
