    The South Cougars football team (Salina, KS), was tipped 38-35 in Friday's league bout with the host Maize South Mavericks (Wichita, KS)

    The Mavericks (2-0) will now prepare for their contest against Valley Center (Valley Center, KS). The Hornets enter the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I contest with a 1-1 record. In their last contest, Valley Center was nudged by Hutchinson (Hutchinson, KS), 25-18, in a league contest.

    Coming up next, the Cougars confront the Derby Panthers (Derby, KS) in a Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I contest, on Friday, September 19. South will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Panthers enter the contest with a 1-1 record after their 55-0 league win over Haysville Campus (Wichita, KS).
