Baseball Recap: Berkeley Prep Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

While Berkeley Prep's victory against Carrollwood Day wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Berkeley Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Carrollwood Day on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won nine in a row.

Rivers Kurland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Berkeley Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Mitzel, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Berkeley Prep pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Carrollwood Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Berkeley Prep didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-3 win against Cardinal Mooney on the 29th. As for Carrollwood Day, they will welcome Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
