Football Game Preview: Athens Drive Jaguars vs. Rolesville Rams + How To Watch

The Athens Drive Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Rolesville Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Athens Drive is looking for their season's first victory.

On Friday, Athens Drive lost to Corinth Holders at home by a 30-13 margin. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Pirates are ranked 132nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rolesville). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Wakefield 62-7. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won nine in a row.

Athens Drive better focus on containing Kaleb Williams and Amir Brown as the pair were huge in Rolesville's win. Williams threw for 257 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes, while Brown gained 129 total yards. Williams' passing game has become a key predictor of Rolesville's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Anthony Roberts was in the mix as well, providing the Rams with two TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Rolesville proved: they limited Wakefield to a paltry -1.1 yards per carry. The Rams are a perfect 3-0 when they shut down the run game so well.

Rolesville now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Athens Drive, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Athens Drive was dealt a bruising 65-0 defeat at the hands of Rolesville in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Jaguars, Braden Atkinson (who threw for 242 yards and four touchdowns while completing 93.3% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
