Football Game Preview: Falkner Eagles vs. Smithville Seminoles

Falkner is 0-7 against Smithville since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will host the Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Falkner is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 54 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Tupelo Christian Prep on Friday. They took a blow against Tupelo Christian Prep, falling 42-7. The contest marked Falkner's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Anthony Morgan and Micaiah Young. Young had a great game and rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Morgan did his best for the losing side, rushing for 110 yards on only 15 carries, while also picking up 32 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Smithville was beaten by Hamilton 47-13 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Seminoles in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.

Smithville now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Falkner, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Falkner lost to Smithville at home by a decisive 42-27 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Thankfully for the Eagles, Conner Dabbs (who rushed for 203 yards and four TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
