Baseball Game Preview: Camarillo Scorpions vs. Simi Valley Pioneers

The Camarillo Scorpions will square off against the Simi Valley Pioneers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Simi Valley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Camarillo, who comes in off a win.

Camarillo proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Moorpark 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Scorpions in their matchups with the Musketeers: they've now won four in a row.

Braden Huber tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Camarillo's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grant Tsuji, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Brayden Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Simi Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Walnut on Saturday and fell 4-3.
