Football Recap: Southwood Cowboys vs. North DeSoto Griffins

Southwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the North DeSoto Griffins 62-11. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Griffins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2014.

Even if they lost, Southwood's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jordan Cunningham. Cunningham is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.

A big part of North DeSoto's win came down to the chemistry between Luke Delafield and his top target Miller Warren. Delafield threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes while Warren picked up 75 receiving yards and a touchdown. Chaz Martinez did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 84 receiving yards.

Southwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for North DeSoto, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Southwood has already played their next game, a 42-0 defeat against Northwood on the 25th. As for North DeSoto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 55-6 win against Woodlawn-Shreveport on the 25th.
