Volleyball Game Preview: Steeleville Warriors vs. Cobden Appleknockers

The Steeleville Warriors will square off against the Cobden Appleknockers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Steeleville is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Maryville Christian just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1.

Steeleville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-20, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Cobden came up short against Goreville on Thursday and fell 2-0. The Appleknockers have struggled against the Blackcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-11.

Cobden's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Steeleville, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.

Steeleville was able to grind out a solid victory over Cobden when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Appleknockers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
