Football Recap: Moffat County Comes Up Short

Moffat County extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were dealt a 47-6 loss at the hands of the Basalt Longhorns. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 48-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Basalt, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Will Tarallo, who rushed for 182 yards and five scores while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 13 rushing touchdowns on the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Johnston, who gained 106 total yards and a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Moffat County will face off against Delta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 11.7 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Basalt, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Aspen at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
