On Monday, Downers Grove South had just enough and edged out Neuqua Valley 2-1.

Downers Grove South had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Oswego East didn't have quite enough to beat Yorkville on Thursday and fell 2-1.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Oswego East lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 27-25, 25-22.

Downers Grove South will have to contain Nathan Thach as he made an impact in Oswego East's last game. He had 21 digs.

Downers Grove South's win bumped their record up to 17-18. As for Oswego East, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-17.
