Football Recap: Pelham Memorial Starts Season with Victory Against Peekskill

Pelham Memorial gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Peekskill Red Devils a 14-0 shutout. Given the Pelicans' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while the Red Devils are ranked 442nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pelham Memorial and Peekskill will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Pelicans will take on rival Irvington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Peekskill is set to face off against their familiar foe Greeley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
