The Elkhart Lions will venture away from home to take on the Warsaw Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Elkhart is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
Elkhart took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against NorthWood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers on Thursday, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since April 13, 2024.

Trevor Hilliard looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Sherwood, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. AJ Scott was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Warsaw and Huntington North, and Huntington North kept the tradition alive. The Tigers fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Quinton Brock made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Elkhart's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Warsaw, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Elkhart has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. However, it's not like Warsaw struggles in that department as they've averaged .519. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elkhart skirted past Warsaw 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
