Baseball Game Preview: Park City Miners vs. Hillcrest Huskies

For the second straight game, Park City will face off against Hillcrest. The Miners will challenge the Huskies at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Park City has 12 straight victories, Hillcrest has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Park City's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Hillcrest 11-0. Considering the Miners have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Park City got a massive performance out of Jakob DeVries, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI DeVries has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wesley Dewitt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

DeVries wasn't the only one making solid contact: Park City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in seven consecutive contests.

Park City's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Hillcrest's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Park City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game.
