Preview: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. Superior Wildcats
After three games on the road, Sandy Creek is heading back home. They will take on the Superior Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Sandy Creek came up short against Fillmore Central and fell 45-33. Sandy Creek has struggled against Fillmore Central recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ethan Shaw, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Oliver Oglesby, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Sandy Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Meanwhile, Superior's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 14th straight defeat. They fell to Smith Center 58-52.
Sandy Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Superior, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-18.
Everything went Sandy Creek's way against Superior in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as Sandy Creek made off with a 58-36 win. Will Sandy Creek repeat their success, or does Superior have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
