League recap: Arndt races to league-leading run for Hennessey

2A District 1 recap September 10, 2013

Hennessey's William Arndt rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A District 1 this season in his game against Christian Heritage last week. Arndt ran for 59 yards on the play and finished with 97 on the day as his team topped the Crusaders.

Newkirk fell to Crescent 41-20 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Taggart Brown and Bryce Stewart gave Chisholm a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Brown threw for 27 yards, while Stewart ran for 205 yards. Teammate Luke Ball added to the ground attack by rushing for 42 yards.

Brown and Stewart gave the Longhorns a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week.

Austin Swann made the biggest impact on defense this week as Chisholm bested Oklahoma Bible. The 6-foot-1 junior pulled down 2 interceptions.

Stewart was the best running back in the league this week.

Dylan Hatchel was a passing and rushing force as Hennessey beat Christian Heritage. He completed 14 passes for 118 yards and also ran for 123 yards. Hatchel's favorite target this week was Jose Sanchez, who caught 3 passes for 44 yards.

Sanchez was the best receiver in the league this week as Rick Luetjen's team beat John Merrell's team. Steven Lott helped Hennessey's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 36 yards.

Brown put up the best numbers in passing as Joey Reinart's team topped the Trojans.

The Eagles' Hatchel and Sanchez have formed a dream team this season, leading 2A District 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Hatchel has thrown for 118 yards this season, while Sanchez has 3 catches for 44 yards. The Longhorns' Stewart leads the league in rushing yards with 205.

Chisholm led the league in scoring this week by notching 36 points on Oklahoma Bible. Stewart during the win.
