Baseball Recap: Mountainburg Wins Going Away Against Decatur

While Mountainburg put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Decatur. The Dragons put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 17-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ryan Allen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dallon Turner, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Levi Cowett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Mountainburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mountainburg moved to 6-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Decatur, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Mountainburg will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Providence Academy at 4:00 p.m. As for Decatur, they are taking a road trip to square off against Life Way Christian at 3:30 p.m. on the 15th.
