Softball Recap: First Presbyterian Day's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

First Presbyterian Day dropped down to 10-2 on Tuesday, ending the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the John Milledge Academy Trojans by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

First Presbyterian Day saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Morgan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for John Milledge Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

On John Milledge Academy's side, not much got past Addie Latimer, who gave up just three hits to keep First Presbyterian Day off the board. Latimer has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kinley McLemore, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Macie Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. First Presbyterian Day is set to face off against their familiar foe Tattnall Square Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 1.9, the Trojans 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, John Milledge Academy will take on rival Piedmont Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
