Basketball Recap: Chaputnguak Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chaputnguak entered their tilt with Nelson Island on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They snuck past the Nelson Island Islanders with a 52-48 win. This was a revenge game for the Shaman: when they faced off against the Islanders last Wednesday, they had to take a 45-44 loss.

Chaputnguak can attribute much of their success to Donetta Vaavale, who posted 23 points. MacKenzie Larsen was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Several Islanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Acelyn Moses, who had 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Angaiak, who earned ten points.

Chaputnguak pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Nelson Island, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.

As of now, neither Chaputnguak nor Nelson Island have any future games scheduled.
