Baseball Game Preview: Seminole Seminoles vs. Dr. Phillips Panthers

The Seminole Seminoles will challenge the Dr. Phillips Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Seminole took an 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Lyman, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Seminoles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Greyhounds on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Seminoles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Mathew Stubbs, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Dr. Phillips was able to grind out a solid win over Timber Creek on Tuesday, taking the game 5-1. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly four runs.

Isaiah Morales looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Dr. Phillips' success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Dr. Phillips let Jace Jenniex and Brody Cone run wild. Jenniex went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run, while Cone went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramses De Maio, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Seminole's victory bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Dr. Phillips, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.

Seminole beat Dr. Phillips 6-1 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will the Seminoles repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
