Football Recap: Cactus Shadows Beats Tucson High Magnet School for Their Fourth Straight Win + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Cactus Shadows rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers 56-35. With the Falcons ahead 42-21 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Donivan Dixon was his usual excellent self, throwing for 346 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 159 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 83 yards. Brock Cashin did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 90 receiving yards.

Tucson High Magnet School lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Makoa Pena, who rushed for 148 yards and one TD while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 52 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another signal caller making a difference was Derek Mesa, who threw for 217 yards and a pair of TDs.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Cactus Shadows, bringing their record up to 7-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.3 points over those games. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Cactus Shadows will challenge Arizona College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Dixon and Evan Heinrich. Tucson High Magnet School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
