Baseball Recap: Wayne Has No Trouble Against South Sioux City

Wayne waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the South Sioux City Cardinals get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Devils yet this season.

Jaxson Kneifl made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Wayne: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Kneifl was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Gavin Redden was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Alex Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for South Sioux City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Coincidentally, Wayne and South Sioux City will both be playing Crete the next time they take the field. The Blue Devils will host the Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Cardinals will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
