Basketball Game Preview: Asheville Christian Academy Lions vs. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles

The Asheville Christian Academy Lions will take on the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Asheville Christian Academy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Greenville H just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 46-36 to the Hurricanes. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 203rd in North Carolina, while the Hurricanes are ranked 56th in South Carolina).

Asheville Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Laura Rinehart, who posted nine points and four steals, and Sara Larios, who scored 16 points and three steals. The match was Larios' eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Meanwhile, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee lost 54-31 to A.C. Reynolds on Thursday.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Asheville Christian Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10.

Asheville Christian Academy won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January, slipping by Rabun Gap-Nacoochee 55-54.
