Football Recap: River Forest Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact River Forest can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 56-14 loss at the hands of the Mishawaka Marian Knights. The Ingots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

Mishawaka Marian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vinny Gruber, who rushed for 75 yards and two scores, and also picked up 43 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Mitchell Fimbel, who rushed for 38 yards and one TD.

River Forest's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Mishawaka Marian, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.

River Forest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mishawaka Marian, they will be playing at home against Calumet New Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Gruber and Bryce Brandon.
