Recap: Aquinas Monarchs vs. Lincoln Lutheran Warriors
The Aquinas Monarchs struggled with threes on Saturday (the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Aquinas was the victim of a rough 63-43 loss at the hands of Lincoln Lutheran. Aquinas has struggled against Lincoln Lutheran recently, as their match on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryant Stouffer, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Stouffer's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garett Novacek, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Lincoln Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Hager, who scored 19 points along with five assists. Jacob Duitsman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Lincoln Lutheran, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Aquinas will head out on the road to face off against Guardian Angels Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Lutheran will be home for the holidays to greet Lourdes Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lourdes Central Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
