Basketball Recap: Santa Barbara Takes a Loss

Santa Barbara was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Oxnard Yellowjackets 56-25. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-36 back in January.

Oxnard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Lumas out in front who posted 15 points and five steals. Lumas has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Sofia Salgado was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Santa Barbara's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Oxnard, they pushed their record up to 19-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Santa Barbara has already played their next match, a 75-32 defeat against Ventura on the 1st. As for Oxnard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 85-50 win against Rio Mesa on the 1st.
