Football Recap: Anthony Campanario's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Morro Bay over Liberty + How To Watch

Morro Bay and Liberty squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Morro Bay had to settle for second. The game between the Pirates and the Hawks didn't end well, with the Pirates falling 41-27. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Hawks are ranked 235th).

Morro Bay's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Campanario, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two TDs. Campanario's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 119 receiving yards. John Holguin was another key player, picking up 45 receiving yards and one score.

Morro Bay has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Liberty, the win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Morro Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will challenge Bishop Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
