Basketball Game Preview: Salinas Cowboys vs. Everett Alvarez Eagles

Salinas has gone 8-1 against Everett Alvarez recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Salinas Cowboys will challenge the Everett Alvarez Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Everett Alvarez took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Salinas, who comes in off a win.

Salinas will head into Friday's game on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Soledad on Friday. Salinas put the hurt on Soledad with a sharp 51-31 win. The Cowboys pushed the score to 40-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Aztecs cut but never quite recovered from.

Salinas can attribute much of their success to Alissa Escutia, who posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Escutia a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Alice Uchida, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Everett Alvarez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Hollister and fell 77-28. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1008th, while the Haybalers are ranked 329th).

Salinas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Everett Alvarez, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything came up roses for Salinas against Everett Alvarez when the teams last played on January 6th, as the team secured a 68-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salinas since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
