Basketball Game Preview: Gilpin County Eagles vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles

Gilpin County hasn't had much luck against Dayspring Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gilpin County Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Gilpin County is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 34th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were beaten by Flatirons Academy 90-25. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while the Bison are ranked 117th).

Meanwhile, Dayspring Christian Academy played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 75-27 loss at the hands of Flatirons Academy. The Eagles have struggled against the Bison recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Gilpin County's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Gilpin County was dealt a bruising 67-23 loss at the hands of Dayspring Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gilpin County was down 39-11.
