Basketball Recap: Lanier Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Lanier Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 68-33 takedown of Fideles Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lanier Christian Academy Lightning were beaten by the Banks County Leopards 76-19 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Leopards are ranked 71st).

Emma Flowers was Lanier Christian Academy's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Ellie Roberts held things down on the boards with five rebounds. Adelyn Gough took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Lanier Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Banks County, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.

The future could be bright for both Lanier Christian Academy and Banks County: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Lanier Christian Academy will try to hand Peachtree Academy their third-straight loss when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Banks County will look to extend Commerce's four-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
