Basketball Recap: Chester Comes Up Short

Chester lost against Quincy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Chester Volcanoes took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Quincy Trojans. While the Volcanoes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 15-11 in the first quarter.

Quincy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skylar McCarthy, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. McCarthy has been hot, having posted 12 or more boards the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Nussle, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Chester has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Quincy, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.

Chester will host Los Molinos at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Quincy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Maxwell at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
