If Stearns was riding high fresh off their 56-12 takedown of Ellsworth last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Minutemen took a 28-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spruce Mountain Phoenix on Saturday. The Minutemen's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spruce Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austin Armandi, who rushed for 67 yards and a pair of scores. Dylan Jewett was another key player, rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

Stearns' loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Spruce Mountain, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stearns will face off against Sacopee Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Spruce Mountain, they will challenge Dexter at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
