Volleyball Recap: Mountain View Academy Mustangs vs. Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions
After flying high against Latino College Preparatory Academy on Thursday, Mountain View Academy came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell 3-1 to the Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions on Monday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Mountain View Academy couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Luis Valdez Leadership Academy a tough time in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-15, 28-30, 25-18.
Sephora Camacho paced Mountain View Academy's offense, picking up six kills. Camacho got some help from Myka Chan and her 17 assists. Isadora DeSouza controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Luis Valdez Leadership Academy found their leader in sophomore Allison Gonzalez, who had ten aces. With that strong performance, Gonzalez is now averaging an impressive 2.2 aces per game. Jazmin Cruz was another key player, getting five kills and two aces.
Mountain View Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Mountain View Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit on the 22nd. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, they will head out to square off against KIPP San Jose Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
