Basketball Recap: Stuart's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was fun while it lasted, but Stuart's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Tuesday. They came up short against the Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats, falling 59-35. The match marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Stuart had strong showings from Gavynn Mustin, who posted eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, and Benjamin Paxton, who had eight points and five rebounds. Mustin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season.

Preston Hoke was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 22 on his way to 21 points and four steals for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Schindler, who put up ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Stuart fell to 5-1. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Stuart will welcome Burke at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], they will venture away from home to square off against O'Neill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully O'Neill likes a good challenge.
