Volleyball Preview: El Dorado Cougars vs. Central Catholic Raiders

After both having extra time off, the El Dorado Cougars and the Central Catholic Raiders will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games El Dorado has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

El Dorado is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Union Mine just ended the team's eight-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Diamondbacks by a score of 3-2.

El Dorado actually scored more points across those five sets (110-105), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 27-25, 17-25, 21-25, 15-12.

Despite the defeat, El Dorado got top-tier performance from Hailey Kroeker, who had 16 digs and three aces. Alice Ripley also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic suffered their biggest loss since August 28th on Tuesday. They came up short against Mountain House, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for the Raiders seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

While Central Catholic had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-20, 25-18.

El Dorado's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 13-1 and their overall record down to 18-9. As for Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.
