The Etiwanda Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Chino Hills Huskies at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Chino Hills took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Etiwanda, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, Etiwanda got the win against St. Lucy's by a conclusive 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-10, 25-16.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Etiwanda to victory, but perhaps none more so than Meaalofa Tauaese, who had 14 assists and three digs.
Etiwanda was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in eight consecutive matchups.
Chino Hills had taken Los Osos down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Huskies fell 3-1 to the Grizzlies. The defeat continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Grizzlies: they've now lost three in a row.
While Chino Hills had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 26-28, 25-23, 25-21.
Etiwanda's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-12. As for Chino Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.
Etiwanda took their win against Chino Hills in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Huskies' Yanizza Gutierrez, who had 22 digs and two aces.
