Football Game Preview: Ashbrook Greenwave vs. Kings Mountain Mountaineers + How To Watch

Ashbrook hasn't had much luck against Kings Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Greenwave will host the Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Kings Mountain will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Ashbrook extended their winning streak to six last Friday. The Greenwave blew past North Gaston, posting a 44-0 win. The Greenwave's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Ashbrook relied on the efforts of Aj McClain, who rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown, and Martino Smith, who rushed for 44 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kings Mountain). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 65-0 victory over North Gaston. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mountaineers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Wildcats are ranked 274th).

Kings Mountain found their leader in sophomore KJ Bell, who threw for 170 yards and five TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. Those five passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Bell. Khareem Coleman helped Bell out on the ground, rushing for 123 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

Kings Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as William Tex Vaughn, Ayven Ingram, and Camren Houser picked up one apiece.

Ashbrook's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Kings Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
