Central extended their winning streak to ten on Friday, bumping them up to 10-0. They were the clear victors by a 56-33 margin over the Northside Patriots. Considering the Lions have won eight contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacez Walton led the charge by rushing for 93 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Walton a new career-high. Avery Tanner also helped out with an impressive 107 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 349 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Central's defensive line and their four sacks. Leading the way was Jaden Jones with two.
As for Northside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Central is ranked 33rd).
Despite the loss, Northside had strong showings from Jai Jackson, who gained 173 total yards and three touchdowns, and Max Thrash, who threw for 236 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes. The Patriots' leading receiver Trent Cash was Thrash's top target yet again, picking up 102 receiving yards and one score.
As of now, neither Central nor Northside have any future games scheduled.
