San Clemente won against Riverton last Friday with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Tritons won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Chaparral Pumas 35-34. This was payback for the Tritons, who suffered a 17-16 loss the last time these two teams met.

San Clemente's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eiler King, who threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns while completing 79.3% of his passes. Shane Kiley was another key player, picking up 99 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Another reason for the win was San Clemente's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Joshua Kerst was the leader with 3.5.

Chaparral lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dane Weber, who threw for 332 yards and five TDs while completing 72.4% of his passes. Chaparral's leading receiver Eli Woodard was Weber's top target yet again, picking up 141 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

San Clemente now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, San Clemente will be playing at home against La Costa Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tritons will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Chaparral, they are taking a road trip to challenge Rancho Cucamonga at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
