Basketball Recap: Saddleback Comes Up Short

Saddleback won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 75-34 loss at the hands of the Servite Friars. The match marked the Roadrunners' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Saddleback lost, don't look at Christopher Trotter. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 21 en route to 22 points. Trotter's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Angel Soberanis, who posted seven points and six boards.

Servite was led to victory by Daouda Ndiaye and Bryson Taiulu Allen. Ndiaye went 11 of 12 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds, while Taiulu Allen went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points along with five boards and three steals. That's the most steals Taiulu Allen has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Schutt, who scored six points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Saddleback's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Servite, they moved to 13-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Saddleback has already played their next contest, a 67-35 win against Magnolia on the 31st. As for Servite, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-46 defeat against Orange Lutheran on the 31st.
