Basketball Recap: Burton Pumas vs. Sterne Dolphins
Burton easily dispatched City Arts and Leadership Academy last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Burton Pumas fell just short of the Sterne Dolphins by a score of 52-50 on Wednesday. The Pumas were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dolphins earlier this season, when they won 55-39.
Sterne found their leader in sophomore Andrew Jones, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 blocks. Jones is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 13 or more in the last five games he's played. Smith Trimble was another key player, going 8 for 19 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds.
Burton's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Sterne, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burton has already played their next game (against June Jordan School of Equity), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sterne has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against KIPP SF College Prep.
