Softball Game Preview: Dinuba Emperors vs. Mt. Whitney Pioneers

The Dinuba Emperors will face off against the Mt. Whitney Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dinuba is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

Last Tuesday, Dinuba beat Golden West 6-3.

Neveah Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kiley Gomez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Gomez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Dinuba kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mt. Whitney, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They skirted past Immanuel 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted since April 25, 2024.

Dinuba pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Mt. Whitney, the win got them back to even at 4-4-2.

Dinuba beat Mt. Whitney 14-11 in their previous matchup back in March of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dinuba since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
