It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hickory had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the South Point Red Raiders as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Red Tornadoes as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Hickory walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-21, 25-11, 25-18.
Emmi Gambill paced Hickory's offense, picking up 16 kills. Gambill got some help from Ryan Hines and her 19 assists. Kira Morin controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Hickory's win bumped their record up to 32-4. As for South Point, their loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 18-11.
Looking ahead, Hickory will host Oak Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
