Soccer Game Preview: Gold Beach vs. Umpqua Valley Christian

The Gold Beach Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Umpqua Valley Christian Monarchs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Gold Beach's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

It was a proper cat-fight when Gold Beach duked it out with Bandon/Pacific on Thursday. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Gold Beach fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Bandon/Pacific since Thursday.

Meanwhile, Umpqua Valley Christian hasn't lost a match since September 23rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They and Coquille/Myrtle Point finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. While a more conclusive result would've been nice, Umpqua Valley Christian got plenty of practice considering the match was the highest-scoring draw the team's played all season.

Umpqua Valley Christian's draw makes their record 7-2-4 this season. As for Gold Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Gold Beach came up short against Umpqua Valley Christian in their previous matchup last Monday, falling 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
