Softball Recap: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Eastern Randolph Wildcats
Providence Grove lost against Eastern Randolph last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Providence Grove Patriots lost 13-3 to the Eastern Randolph Wildcats. Providence Grove has not had much luck with Eastern Randolph recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Devon Kelly was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Leela Von Der Hey, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
On Eastern Randolph's side, Addie Flinchum was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Flinchum has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in 14 consecutive pitching appearances. Flinchum was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Hailey Ritter was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Logann Beaver was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Providence Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Eastern Randolph, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Providence Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eastern Randolph, they will head out on the road to challenge Uwharrie Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
